Boundary Breakers is a ministry with a goal to reach out to all people with the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Boundary Breakers offers a message of hope and freedom in Christ to all people, regardless of the challenges, or the severity of their personal situation. We seek to help people to become free from boundaries that prevent them from knowing the saving grace of Christ and living a more victorious life.

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound." -- Isaiah 61:1,2

Boundary Breakers is a Christian non-profit organization that was established as a non-profit corporation in 2002. Utilizing sports and entertainment platforms, we reach people for Christ through our weekly chapel services, sports programs, and outreaches. By speaking to, mentoring, and working with the youth in the juvenile detention centers, lives have been changed, and individuals have found a purpose and plan for future success upon their release.

Boundary Breakers has teamed with Phoenix First Assembly Of God and Church On The Street at The Phoenix Dream Center, a placement home, to provide the following:

  • A special Christmas program and party for homeless and underprivileged children
  • Church services and Christian outreach for those in Arizona's correctional facilities (including Arizona's juvenile corrections facilities)
  • A free dentail clinic for the indigent
  • Weekly clothing donations for the homeless
  • Discipleship programs
  • Personal counseling
  • Gymnasium facilities and personal training
  • Special community outreaches

HOW WE BEGAN

Boundary Breakers was founded by Pastor Mickey Rhodes, who both preached and lived the idea that "the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves." Born with severe physical handicaps and confined to a wheelchair, Mickey used God as his personal wrecking ball, to tear down the boundaries that the world placed in front of him. An inspiration to many, Mickey accepted his challenges head-on and attributed all his successes to God.

At eight years old, Mickey sensed the call of ministry. He felt "the Lord can use me just how I am" and began striving for his goal. After graduating high school he began Berean Bible College, where he earned his associate's degree in Theology. He was later ordained at Good Friends Fellowship on February 18, 2001 by Pastor Ron Hembree in Goodyear, Arizona. Mickey then started Boundary Breakers Ministry in Phoenix, Arizona with the goal of preaching the good news to his hometown and in time, to the world.

During his time leading Boundary Breakers, Mickey touched countless lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Reaching out to others with God's good news, Mickey spent much of his time ministering specifically to those in Arizona's correctional facilities, with a great deal of focus on the young people in the state's juvenile facilities.. Partnering with Pastor Walt Rattray Church On The Street, Mickey also hosted an annual Christmas party for local homeless children and made weekly donations of clothing, bedding, and other essential items. In recognition of the number of lives Mickey had inspired through sharing the gospel during his prison visits, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio presented Mickey with a Sheriff's badge and appointed him to the role of Special Deputy, an honor shared by only nine other individuals at the time.

On October 21, 2007, Mickey was called home to be with the Lord. With the blessing of Mickey's parents, Larry and Judy Rhodes, John Williams vowed to continue the work that Mickey had begun with Boundary Breakers. Mickey's original vision continues today, carried forth by all those who contribute to the ongoing mission of Boundary Breakers.
